Nuno Meira
began his violin studies with Professor Carlos Carneiro and continued with Professor Vítor Diamantino at the Sociedade Martins Sarmento. In 1995, he joined the Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave (ARTAVE) in the class of Professor António Soares. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Violin at the Royal College of Music (London) under the guidance of Professor Ani Schnarch. In 2005, he was awarded a scholarship by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation to pursue a Postgraduate degree at the Royal College of Music with Professor Ani Schnarch. In 2015, he completed a Master's degree in Educational Sciences, specializing in Music, at the Portuguese Catholic University.
In 2005, he was admitted to the European Union Orchestra and later won the position of Assistant Concertmaster at the Algarve Orchestra, where he remained for four years, also serving as Concertmaster for about two years.
Currently, he is the Concertmaster of the Guimarães Orchestra and the Arnema Studio Orchestra. He has led masterclasses and workshops at institutions such as the Barcelos Music Conservatory, the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory in Aveiro, the Paços de Brandão Music Academy, the Costa Cabral Music Academy, the Viseu International Spring Music Festival, the Bragança Music and Dance Conservatory, and the Porto Music Conservatory, among others. He has served as a jury member for competitions such as Paços Premium, Concurso Capela, and Concurso Cidade do Porto, and he is one of the coordinators for the violin section of the Pequenos Galinhos competition in Barcelos.
He regularly performs as a soloist with various orchestras, including the Algarve Orchestra, the ARTAVE Orchestra, and the Guimarães Orchestra. In October 2023, he premiered Sérgio Azevedo's First Violin Concerto for Violin and String Orchestra.
Currently, he teaches violin at the University of Minho and the Barcelos Music Conservatory.
